How do I get a space?

New members:
Contact Marc Rogers using the form on the Contact page selecting "Dinghy Compound" as the topic. If you prefer to phone or text, my number is in the Club Handbook. In an emergency take up an empty space, but only temporarily and get in touch as soon as possible.

Existing members:
Expect to take up the same space(s) as last year unless you want a change or are asked to move. Marc will try to make sure that the 'best' spaces go to boats which sail regularly.

How much does a space cost?

The current fee is £40 per space per year payable to Sue Leat, our Membership Secretary. After payment, a year sticker will be added to the stern or transom of your boat or made available for you to stick on yourself.

Who maintains the dinghy park?

A club volunteer keeps the central tracks mown.

As a member, you are expected to strim your own space regularly. Due to constant abuse, the club strimmer is now not available for members' use. If a member does not have a strimmer and cannot borrow one, there are shears and a long bill-hook in the cage in the boatshed that can be used for difficult weeds.

You must also make sure that your boat is tied down securely. Pegs, stakes or twist in tethers can be driven into the ground either side of your boat. A rope or straps can be used to anchor your boat to these. Remember that it's very important for you to tie your boat down when in the dinghy park. Dinghies can easily be blown over causing damage to your own and neighbouring boats.

Working parties

We run working parties to tidy the dinghy park throughout the year. These will be announced in advance on the club forum and Facebook page. If you are available to help please come along.

Occasionally we may need to move your boat to complete dinghy compound maintenance. If so, we will attempt to contact you first but this is not always possible.
